IAS officer Divya Mittal

Becoming an IAS officer is a cherished aspiration for many UPSC aspirants, with thousands appearing for the civil services exam annually. However, only a small fraction, typically around 1000 candidates, manage to qualify for the prestigious positions of IAS, IPS, IFS, and other civil services roles. While some candidates may require multiple attempts to crack the UPSC CSE, there are remarkable individuals who achieve success on their first try. One such example is IAS officer Divya Mittal, who accomplished this feat.

Belonging to the 2013 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Divya Mittal initially secured IPS in her first attempt at the UPSC exam in 2012. Undeterred, she reappeared for the exam in 2013 and succeeded in becoming an IAS officer, achieving an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 68 in the 2012 UPSC CSE. Hailing from Rewari, Haryana, Divya Mittal has emerged as one of the most prominent civil servants in India, known for her dedicated development work across various districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Throughout her career, Divya has served as the District Magistrate of Mirzapur, Sant Kabir Nagar, and other districts, earning recognition for her impactful initiatives. Following her transfer from Basti district, she eagerly awaited her new posting and eventually assumed the role of CEO at the UP Rural Roads Development Agency (UPRRDA) in Lucknow.

Before embarking on her civil service journey, Divya Mittal worked as an investment banker in London. She holds an MBA from IIM Bangalore and completed her B.Tech from IIT Delhi. Divya gained widespread attention in August 2023 during her tenure as the DM of Mirzapur, where she played a pivotal role in providing access to water for the residents of Lahuria Deh village. Her compassionate leadership was further underscored by the heartfelt farewell she received from numerous women upon her transfer, symbolized by the shower of rose petals.
